Happy belated Canada Day!

At 7:30 or so I heard a car’s horn honking non-stop, but I ignored it. I figured it was someone’s car alarm  – they go off every now and then and after 5 minutes someone usually realizes it and turns it off. When it didn’t stop I took a look outside and noticed a GIANT ASS FIRE in one of the metal dumpsters out in the parking lot.

They were put there by a construction company that’s replacing all the fences in the backyards. So this bin was FULL of old wood. Heh.

Pretty crazy stuff. Obviously my first reaction was to grab my camera. Second was “uh, are we supposed to leave the house?” (this was after my Mom called 911). We played it safe and went outside since the smoke and flames were going up pretty high and you could see hot ashes flying up.

We joined the crowd that had formed, firefighters showed up, they put it out and sifted through it.

AND THAT WAS MY SUNDAY NIGHT.

HAH, I tweeted about the fire and got a response from the LA fire department — it was pretty amusing, because they misspelled “OTTOWA”. HAH, Twitter is amusing at times like this.

Nathan dressed up as “Boogy Bot 2000″ last night. Yeaaaah.. I think I kind of looked like the half-assed assistant who put him together.

Also, check out the archives. I made them a bit more interesting by making them show up in these lovely grids. Now all of the posts for a given month and year are visible at once, no more endlessly clicking between pages. Yay!

Oh, and these are some awesome brownies I picked up in the market on Friday. They have a green icing layer on top and a pink layer between the green icing and the brownie. In short: THEY’RE JUST LIKE REAL FROGS.

I am posting for what feels like the first time in an eternity (I checked, the last written post was in April, nice). HAH, I don’t even know what to post about these days.

Hmm, well — I think my title has kind of changed at work from a web developer to a designer in the last 6 months, I suppose. It’s kind of interesting, ever since I joined the company I’ve been slowly working in that direction. I’m fortunate since I can kind of move between the developer and designer role.

Ahh, most of y’alls are in 4th year now — and though I imagine many are going to graduate school, once you start working things get much more awesome (assuming you enjoy your job), though I admit it would be nice to be around more people that are my age. Someone asked me if I knew who Inspector Gadget was, in the last month. Yeah, disconnects like that are kind of irritating.

Hmm, so I’ve got to moveou! I’ve taken a look at some places, but at the moment I’m thinking I’m going to move out sometime in early 2010 (unless a place came up that I absolutely could not turn down). I was looking into a place on Clarence St. a few weeks ago … that would be pretty badass. Overall, I’m looking to move downtown in/near the market or Elginish-area.

Yeah! SO THAT IS ME.

I just found this out right now, but did you know Ottawa has a “rotating restaurant”? It’s at the top of the Marriott hotel downtown. This place spins around … ahaha. I wonder if people get motion sickness while eating up there. Hmm!

I’ve heard that I should consult Jane, as she must be the most skilled of all my friends (bc not only is she organized enough to maintain herself, she saved her mother from a kitchen fire by being observant). Any suggestions? or maybe this site can become a sort of craigslist tradeoff, where ppl sign on to exchange with other ppl to clean their houses. I always felt that we do much better at getting rid of other’s clutter
