As the title suggests, Nathan and I went to Montreal for the day yesterday — spontaneously.
Oh, and as we concluded yesterday: it’s very cheap and easy to bus to places, and we should do it again sometime (but … with more planning ;D)
Ahahah so it took me over 2 days to get a freekin OC transpo bus pass. why, do you ask? well the adventure goes as follows:
1. Robertson Hall
“may i buy a busspass here?”
“sorry that office has moved to resident commons, fenn lounge”
“thank you”
2. At Fenn Lounge I
“Hello i would like to buy a busspass please”
“sorrydear our system is down, we cant issue any right now, come back in an hour or so”
“thank you”
3. Fenn Lounge II (2 hours later)
“sorry our system is still down, you’ll have to come back another time”
“thank you”
4. Fenn Lounge IIIÂ (the next day)
(priya waits in exeedingly long line up)
“hello id like a buspass please”
“sit on the chair and we’ll take your photo”
“thank you”
“anythign else?”
“id like a semester pass”
“sory go to the main floor desk to buy one, not here”
“thank you.”
5. Resident Commons
“hello i was told you sell semester passes”
“im very sorry but we’re sold out. we have none left, but they sell them at the university centre 4th floor”
“thank you”
6. (after meeting up with mike who kindly said he would come with me) University Centre I (at the 4th floor office)
“hello id like to buy a semester pass”
“thats fine, do you have cash on you?”
“no..”
“we only accept cash here. but if you go to the store downstairs they accept everyhing”
7. University Centre II
(team mike goes to the store)
“hello can i buy a semester buspass please”
“yes”
“i have a cheque, is that ok?”
“oh.. sorry we dont accept.”
*team mike huddle*
mike: i can pay it on my card and you can sign the check to me since it is unsigned to anyone.
priya: yah! ok!
“i’ll buy the buspass on my card”
“sorry we dont accept debit”
“oh..”
(team mike leaves, defeated and confused… then later on in the quad)
“we can go to lincoln fields and get your pass since we have a few hours to kill before the bbq”
“yah ok!”
8. Lincoln Fields
(there is a line up of like 150 ppl)
“yah im not waiting.”
“ask at the store, they might sell them?”
(turns out they only sell tickets)
*team mike re-huddle*
mike: do you have a bank card
priya: left it at home
mike: we can go to a scotia bank and i cancash the cheque
priya: ok! there is one at the uni i think
mike: it might just be an atm machine
(team mike ventures to merivale and meadowlands where there is a scotia bank. after a bit of waiting and complaining of being tired and hungry we get the money and return to carleton)
9. University Centre III (store)
(oh and turns out there was a scotia bank at the uni)
“hello i would like to buy a semester bus pass”
“oh i dont sell them at this cash, go to the post office in the store”
(post office is like 5 seconds away)
“hello i would like to buy a buspass.”
“216 dollars please”
*PAYS MONEY. GETS BUSPASS. SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!*
and thus after around 9 tries team mike finally gets priya’s buspass. ahahahaha.
i must say, mike you are my hero for helping me get that buspass, too too nice of you. i owe you 216 dollars worth of coffee = )
same time next semester? aahahaha. just kidding.
