Took my first bus of 09 today. Same old shit …
It felt strangely natural walking on without flashing a bus pass or paying. Today was the last free day, right? Heh, the city has royally screwed up what lovely incentives we have. Wtf, I can’t believe they took away the free service until the end of March! That’s damn-annoying.

Had to get in touch with one of my old employers yesterday for a T4 for the first two months of last year. Rather lame … taxes are ass.

Had a 1/4 of a beer at the end of work today, before realizing that I was supposed to be at the gym later and beer is not the best means of hydrating. Damn it all!

Bloog seems to have unusually steady traffic from repeat visitors for a site that has become pretty dead. Doesn’t seem to go below 5 visits/day by repeat visitors. Ahaha.

While I was looking at analytics, nickjasperse.com got a 1500% spike in traffic the other day. As it turns out, it got one visitor. NICE!!

JEEEBUS. I’ve been sick all week and it has been the worst sick I have been in LONGTIME (which is kind of amusing because it is pretty mild). I still hate everything and took 1.5 days off. Can you get dehydrated from a runny nose? After all of today, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I SLEPT THROUGH THE NEWS TODAY AND MISSED THE END OF THE TRANSIT STRIKE. I think I’m still going to ride into work with my parents for a week or two, until all the spitting on bus drivers doesn’t cause their feet to be slippery.

We’re doing an interesting after hours contest at work. People participating pick a song, it goes in a hat, randomly select song from hat, design 18×24″ poster to that song. Must contain song name + artist. Winner will be selected by entire office in two weeks from Friday. Very interesting — I’m worried about getting a song that will be hard to design for or carry too much baggage.

Oh, and I missed the mark for a freelance client BIG TIME. There was some miscommunication and I thought I was making a site for a carpenter … turns out the guy is more of an architect or something. I dunno, he designs fancy houses. Whatever those people are. HAH. So my design is all woody and there’s a pretty tacky wood frame around this neato photo gallery thing and the background has a subtle wood texture. I was going to add sawdust, too. My god. Yeaaaahhhh … fully missed the mark on that project. At least it’s not axed ;)

It wasn’t as bad as it has been for my commute in this morning. We left at around 15 after 7. On the ride home at about 4:40. I’m not going to say they were the fastest rides to/from work, but dare I say: I think I might be adapting to the change?

Hell, when we were leaving the sunset was still slightly visible!

I ordered my sister’s present online yesterday … it was shipped today … and it is supposed to arrive at my work tomorrow! HOW COOL IS THAT. I am so impressed by the speed … Chicago to Ottawa in one day. A-MAZE-ING. On the other hand, I ordered something three weeks ago with no tracking information, that has yet to arrive. Damn it all.

Now if only we could make some kind of freely accessible transportation system that would make getting from work to home take less than an hour …

Hmm … I am not looking forward to coping with the strike. Thankfully my mom works on Albert and I can get a ride in… except … gah … I’d be getting into work by ~7:45. I would also be leaving earlier, which might be nice. GAHH!

I’ve had my fill of excitement for the day!

I was on a 3 this morning … err … an hour ago and an articulated 3 crashed into us from behind. Ahh … it was fantastic (not). It was so out of the blue and everyone just flew forward. We’re really lucky our bus was pretty much empty, everyone had a seat. BUT we were hit while people were getting off, it jammed the side door so it wouldn’t close.

The articulated bus was not so fortunate. Apparnently someone wasn’t sitting forward on that bus so they ended up breaking their arm or something. Aha.

Waited around for 20 minutes or so for a replacement bus + two firetrucks. Ahh … conveniently the firetrucks arrived at the same time as the replacement 3.

You know what was ironic? On the bus this morning I was like “omg. this is such a pleasant ride in! our bus is so unusually empty, and we’ve just passed an articulated 3!! THIS MEANS IT’S NOT GOING TO GET PACKED TODAY”. The rest of the ride to work was mega packed. Omg. So many people. Hah.

To top it all off, when I got off the bus it was sunny outside. I guess that was a nice way to end the ride?
