Halloween

Boogy Bot 2000

Nathan dressed up as “Boogy Bot 2000″ last night. Yeaaaah.. I think I kind of looked like the half-assed assistant who put him together.

Biohazard Dude?

Also, check out the archives. I made them a bit more interesting by making them show up in these lovely grids. Now all of the posts for a given month and year are visible at once, no more endlessly clicking between pages. Yay!

Oh, and these are some awesome brownies I picked up in the market on Friday. They have a green icing layer on top and a pink layer between the green icing and the brownie. In short: THEY’RE JUST LIKE REAL FROGS.

Good Halloween?

The House!

Alright, so my last post was a little premature. Aha. How was everyone’s Halloween? We got approximately 24 people! It seemed like a lot but they all came in like a 35 minute wave. All were dressed up, except for these 3 guys who seriously were on their way back from picking up a pizza at Milanos. Seriously. No costume. Nothing. They tried to pull off a “he’s a pizza delivery guy!” … no. Where’s your self-respect, bitches! I gave them candy anyway, since we overbought and I wanted to get rid of the cheap stuff on the top of the bowl :P. OH. And one little 8-year-old punk dressed as a police officer kept demanding I give him all the candy. Hah. I gave him extra candy because he was intimidating and had a gun. (well … that was made up … I actually told him that he was imagining things)

What other exciting things can I type about? … … MY G2 ARRIVED IN THE MAIL TODAY … AND ERIC GOT HIS G. WOO. High5s.

Ahh creepy thing happened after work … as I left this guy started talking to me. He was RELIEVED to know that I spoke English (I felt kind of cool at that moment … I was like “sweet. this guy is going to ask for directions!”). He started off with “I’m not asking you for money” … blah blah … “I’m not going to rob you” … (um, growing concerned) … “I just moved into the [something] and my wife’s at home with the baby, could you buy me a slice of pizza. it’s 2.75″. Well. Excuse me? 2.75 is for a single slice with no drink, bitch. I bought pizza from the place you’re talking about — even though you didn’t mention the name of it — every couple of weeks for the last half-year. Why would you buy only one slice of pizza for you, your wife and baby. Yeesh. It just didn’t feel right …

Naturally I didn’t tell him that because he seemed sketchy and he was really freaking me out. So I was like “sorry, I’ve got no money on me. I’m a student” (HAH). He seemed really frustrated. Probably because I had essentially ignored what he said about asking for money and jumped straight to the standard homeless person response. But he then moved on to someone else so I crossed the street and briskly walked away.

Hallows ‘Eve

Woo! Happy Halloween!
Ah, hah, I have the most hilarious coworkers. Yesterday they gave me a  card and a miniature “WELCOME BACK” poster since I was away last week (for the two days a week that I work) due to the mysterious red eyes.

Yesterday I also had a stupid presentation. BLEEEH. It was a “progress report” presentation on the status of the currently 9-week-long group project we’ve been working on. This presentation was kind of interesting because there was no apparent marking scheme, and we’re supposedly being marked relative to eachother’s progress.

I wanted to go first. You know, set the bar low (I was really pessimistic) and let it build up. But instead we went second-last … however we were fortunate enough to go before the group who dressed up all in suits and otherwise seems to have made the most progress with this project. Hah.

Sigh. We were also the only group to have a technical glitch in the middle of the presentation. This glitch KILLED powerpoint. Stupid trying to play a video within powerpoint that worked on all the imacs but failed on the powermac. Hiss.

BUT THE REAL GOOD NEWS OF LAST NIGHT? … we wrapped up all the presentations just as a 156 was leaving Baseline (that meant I’d be waiting a good 53 minutes for the bus) and there was no way I could make it to Baseline in 5 minutes to catch a 116 … so I ran from my building kind of nearish Nathan’s house to Meadowlands and somehow managed to catch the 116. IT WAS AWESOME.

Jack-O-Lanterns!

Halloween is so awesome. SIGH. I miss the candy collection … last year we waited too long to buy a pumpkin and for some reason most stores were all out of them. To replace it we used a fibre-optic green pumpkin (LAME-O). That’s not the case this year … unfortunately, my pumpkin carving skills have severely declined so the pumpkins do not look too great … Ahah.

STILL. Pumpkin carving is so great! And what’s just as great: roasting and eating their precious seeds. Yaaay.
